Hosted by: Mount Vernon Cancer Centre

The UK and Ireland Prostate Brachytherapy Group

Formed to assist centres in the development and education of brachytherapy by reviewing new approaches and innovation, and the sharing of best practice nationally and internationally to improve and retain expertise in all aspects of treating cancer.

The conference is lead by a clinical centre, volunteering to host the most important brachytherapy forum in the UK and Ireland since 2010.

As we lead up to the 2026 conference, follow us on LinkedIn to get the latest information and key announcements of the event.

Learning Objectives

1. To learn about practical prostate brachytherapy techniques and strategies from a large number of highly experienced prostate brachytherapy clinicians, physicists, radiographers and nurses from multiple centres throughout the UK, Ireland and abroad.
There will be discussion about the similarities and differences between prostate brachytherapy practices at different centres and delegates can identify techniques that may be applicable to introduce into their own clinical practice.

2. To engage in debate about the latest innovations and evidence for prostate brachytherapy, including discussion about future developments (including MR fusion, AI-assisted contouring, and rectal spacers, in optimising brachytherapy target definition and organ-at-risk protection)

3. To discuss and share strategies for reducing the environmental footprint of brachytherapy services.

4. To learn about different isotopes for low dose rate (LDR) permanent seed brachytherapy.

5. To review advances in dosimetry and quality assurance, including in-vivo dosimetry systems, altitude correction factors for seed measurements, and post-implant dosimetry practices.

6. To debate the centralisation of brachytherapy services and consider the implications for service planning, patient access, and clinical expertise.

7. To explore salvage brachytherapy strategies for locally recurrent prostate cancer.

This meeting provides 6 CPD credits in accordance with the CPD scheme of the Royal College of Radiologists.
